历史

In 1968, a group of mainly overseas ethnic Chinese Christians from different cities in West Yorkshire came together to start a small Bible study group in Leeds. Their vision was to outreach to the non-English speaking Chinese with the gospel. They also felt the need to have a spiritual home for the Chinese Christians.

They gained help from Pastor Stephen Wang, the founder of Chinese Overseas Christian Mission, COCM and some local English Christians. God blessed their work and soon quite a few students got converted and the Yorkshire Chinese Christian Fellowship, YCCF grew. The group from Bradford was big enough to start their own fellowship in 1970.

In order to reach the Chinese residents, in 1975 the fellowship started a Chinese school for the local Chinese children to learn Cantonese. Over the years quite a few children came to know Jesus through this school. Today the YCCF has evolved to Leeds Chinese Christian Church with 3 different worship services in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

We are thankful to our Lord for the support of many local British church ministers and many overseas Christian students who share our same vision. These students make great contributions to the church during their short stay with us, some even as short as a few months.

With the encouragement of COCM and the cooperation of other Chinese churches/fellowships, we helped to start fellowships in Sheffield, Huddersfield, Hull and Doncaster. Some of our ex-members are in full time Christian service and many more are actively serving our Lord in churches all over the world.

May glory be to God.
